Reformed Pack Rats

I've shared before that my husband and I are pack rats by nature and that the results of 2 pack rats marrying and producing 3 children equals a house filled with way too much junk!

But, we've been working on it for a few years now, and we've gotten really, really determined the last year or so to have less stuff.

The stuff was stressing us out, tempting us to get more stuff like containers and storage furniture to manage the stuff, and when it came down to it, the stuff was beginning to hamper us from doing the things God was calling us to do, like bring another child into our home.

So, this past weekend we had another session of cleaning out (I think we only need about 75 more of those sessions before we'll have it all under control!), and here's proof that we are, in fact, reformed pack rats:

A graduation tassel from 1994!

We took a picture of it and threw it away!

  1. Good for you. I was going to suggest that. Bravo. Thanks for linkin up for WW!

  2. Oh you are so much better than I am, I would have kept it!!

  3. I'm with you on that one Erin, that is one thing I would have kept. In fact, I do still have mine, tucked away in a small storage container under my bed with all my Senior Memoribilia including our Senior Shirts, which I wore for homecoming this past year. Class of 1993 ROcked! But Good for you--at least you have the picture. Oh, and I have a tote under my bed for each one of my children too.

  4. well done cleaning house!
that's something I have been working on as well :)

  5. Oh is soo hard huh? And I am much more a "get rid of it" type of person ~ and yet I struggle. It just seems as if certain things SHOULD be kept aka the tassel and yet what on earth for, haha? To look at and remember? Because like otherwise you won't? haha The pic was a good idea though when you get to be my age you will have a zillion pics that you need to go through and get rid of. How many of these do you REALLY need either. And someday you will be gone and your kids (or someone) will eventually get rid of them anyway. SIGH...a subject I've given much thought to recently. Maybe it was the move and wondering...what do I keep, and what to I save...Have a GOOD day...HUGS

  6. oh I found mine last month when I was cleaning the basement - it looked good(the basement) for about 1 week - it's destroyed again though

  7. I have mine hanging in a closet.

    Have a great Wednesday!

  8. I have mine too, tucked somewhere... speaking of which.. I don't remember where I put mine. loL!

  9. I not sure what happened to to mine. I had it in a memory box at one point.

I'd love to hear what you think!
