What it is Like Being the 3rd Child

Last week's What it is Like Having 3 Kids picture, thankfulness, and 13 things all combined was so much fun I decided to do a sequel!

This picture of my 3rd child peaking out the doggie door says a thousand words about what it is like being the 3rd child. My 13 thoughts about this picture:

  1. Yes, you are seeing correctly, his older brother and sister are trying to entice him out the doggie door!
  2. The older ones do delight in seeing their little brother do silly things.
  3. Only 14 more years before they'll both be off at college and he'll finally get some peace!
  4. I love that my oldest child is wearing his "I'm the Big Brother" shirt in this picture, because he is the ringleader.
  5. My daughter can be very sweet and encouraging, no doubt that is why she took on the job of coaxing the baby brother out the doggie door, "Come on, you can do it!"
  6. The little one is really just tickled with all the attention from his older sibs!
  7. That 3rd child is always up to something crazy, I wonder how much is his idea and how much is the older kids putting him up to it!
  8. "He did it all by himself," my older two will insist when I accuse them of putting him up to mischief.
  9. Like I said last week, I never know what I'm going to find these kids doing, but it is usually picture-worthy!
  10. At least someone is using the doggie door -- our dog certainly doesn't!
  11. It is a blessing to watch them play together!
  12. You can call this "play", right?
  13. I praise you Lord, for giving them the gift of each other! May they always be the best of friends!

  1. Great Photo...

I love dog doors and our mutt actually uses it. Also, the neighbor's cat. What a suprise in the middle of the night when she jumps on my bed. I scream... loudly... *grin*

    Happy TT.

  4. I just found your blog recently and I love it. I just became a mom of three 1 month ago. We have two girls and a baby boy. I am trying to enjoy this time while they are little and trying to survive it at the same time. Thanks for sharing!

  9. i have 3 boys, so nothing amazes me either. they are always putting the littlest one up to something b/c they know they will get into trouble if they do it, so why not see your little brother get into trouble, huh?!

  10. The picture made me laugh! Now that my kids are grown...they tell the stories of the stuff that I didn't catch them doing when they were little. Good thing we can laugh! Thanks for sharing today. Blessings. Mary

  11. As a mother of three, I can realate to so many of the things on your list. My baby is 6, so she's not as gullible as she one was, so the whole thing is getting much more interesting. I love watching the chemistry between the kids.

  19. Thank you for all the sweet comments! I love getting to visit your blogs and get to know you!

For Maggie, I cannot link to your blog because your profile is not set up to allow access, but I want to welcome you to the mother of 3 club!! And you said you are trying to enjoy it and survive it all at the same time, that really perfectly sums up what it is like mothering 3 small children. It is so fun, beautiful and blessed, but so hard and exhausting, too. So carry on sweet sister, it sounds like you have it just right -- enjoy and survive!

  21. That is hilarious and so sweet all at the same time. As the oldest I can say that my sister and I directed my brother a lot more than we let my parents on to.

  23. Ahhh... this is such a cute picture! We have a doggie door, too, and I can't tell you how many times both of my children would use it as a window... and sometimes even a door! :)

    Have a great weekend!
