You know you're adopting when . . .

You know you're adopting when you begin taking pictures of your mail!

This letter inviting us to come be fingerprinted by Immigration is one of 3 big steps we have left before we'll be on the waiting list to be matched with our little girl in Ethiopia!

The other 2 are:
  • Still waiting on the FBI clearance, we sent our fingerprints to them (a lot of fingerprinting involved with adoption!) 7 weeks ago, but it seems most families are now waiting 8-10 weeks for their results instead of the 6 weeks or much less it used to take.
  • Then all we'll need is final approval from CIS (Citizenship and Immigration) which we should get a few weeks after we go in for the fingerprinting this week.

  1. Oh my, it's a long drawn out process isn't it? My daughter's friend went through the same thing. I pray it hurries along for you.

  6. YAY!!!!! That is so exciting. I remember being thrilled when my check cleared at the USCIS. That meant we were getting closer. Who is excited when they loose money? People adopting - that's who!! Congrats!!

  14. Yea! One step closer I hope they get this in order for the fingerprints (the ones you have already done). We don't have to deal with all of the international agencies like you do. Right now we are stuck in foster training mode. It seems to take forever. Blah. Boring classes, but I know there is a reason for them. I am going to take a picture of the mound of paperwork we have, not counting what we already turned in. CRAZY!!
Congratulations, again! I am so happy for you!

  17. We are waiting for an envelope similar to that with our i600a approval. BTW, sometimes they have to repeat the fingerprints, even with the fancy computer biometrics. We got another appointment letter a few weeks later and were very confused. But hopefully that won't happen for y'all! Praying..
