No time to fix my hair but the dog gets a blow dry twice in one day!

Yesterday late afternoon I bathed the dog and used the hair dryer to blow her dry. She was so clean and fluffy. Then at dinner my 5 year old spilled an entire cup of milk, coating the dog who was under her chair. I knew all that soft fur would reek of spoiled milk by morning, so the poor dog got a second bath and blow dry! It's rough being a dog in our house!

My husband and I disagree over whether the dog should be allowed on the couch. He says let her, I say, "If she was going to be a 10 lb dog we could talk about it, but she's going to be 35 lbs!" Madeline sneaks up onto the couch at every opportunity and just looks at me like, "What? I'm comfy."
I'm really trying to be the alpha dog in our relationship, but I think the puppy secretly knows she runs the place already!

Last night my husband was supervising bathtime (while I blew dry the dog for the 2nd time in 3 hours) and somehow the kids totally soaked the bath rug on the floor outside the tub. I noticed the soaking wet rug later and commented to my husband that it would need to go in the dryer because it was too wet to ever dry on its own. Later in the night he told me he put the rug in the dryer but didn't turn it on. When I asked, "Why not?" He said, "I don't know how to work that thing!" The clothes dryer we've had for over 6 months, he doesn't even know how to turn on! My women's lib. self of my teenage years would totally freak out at that fact! But, my 30 something year old homemaker self says, "So, my husband never does wash, so what? He does dishes every night!"

  1. Poor doggie--two baths in one day? My husband and I had the same discussion about our dog being allowed on the couch--she was 55 lbs. when we got her (obese) and now is 39 where she should be. She's on the couch. My husband's logic was if the cats are allowed up there, the dog should be too.

Stopping by from FF--enjoyed your fragments!

  2. We've given up on the furniture fight with my dog and she's about 50 pounds. But the dog hair? I'm so over it.

My husband will wash and dry clothes, but he takes the clothes out of the dryer and plops them on top. Ugh! And dishes? Forget about it. But he does clean bathrooms, so I'm ok with that.

  3. I am going crazy with my 2 dogs on my couch. It is so dirty because of the snow and mud. I am so sick of giving the baths too. Yours did look very comfy and cute there!
Men and laundry just do not go together.

  4. We finally got leather furniture, after 10 years of dogs on the couch (including a 75 pound greyhound, and 65 pound "lap dog" basset hound)...the greyhound started it all after living his life in kennel and discovering the couch within minutes of arriving home. What to do? (At least the big, lanky dogs like greyhounds, and our current foxhound, can somehow curl up into the tiniest balls - it's remarkable).

  5. Well, I have to admit I now let our dog on the couch to nap. Not to sleep all night, but daytime naps. She's the only pet left from another dog and 2 cats so I definitely spoil her! And I totally hear you on the lib thing! I used to do lots of minor house projects (putting up shelves, curtain rods, etc..) now I just wait for hubby to do it. I know...baaad! Oh, found you on Finer Things - have a great weekend!

  6. The picture of your dog in the couch (I'm assuming it's your dog) is the cutest thing!!! What a hoot. My husband asks me where the batteries are located each and every time he needs one. I have not changed the location of the battery bin since we moved to this house 5 years ago. sigh lol

  7. Oh my gosh, your dog is so adorable! What kind is she?

I love that your husband doesn't know how to run the drier. I can totally imagine my husband doing that. He doesn't know where to find things I feel are obvious a lot of the time either.

  9. Haha, my husband is the same: can't work the laundry but he cleans the kitchen every night. He's a keeper!
